Built in 1733, it is located in the lower promenade of Reims, between the Vesle River and Reims train station. Its enclave includes the Palais des Congrès and the Cirque. Originally a French-style garden, it was remodeled in 1883, and the 1865 bandstand was removed. The current bandstand is the one that stood higher up on the promenade. It was renovated again in 1994. For its modernization, it was designed with a children's play area, a decorative spring that also feeds a pond and the bandstand, as well as an esplanade with fountains and sculptures forming the reception area of the Palais des Congrès. It includes a rocky area created in 1896 based on a design by Durand: an alpine style with a sequoia tree and a stream.

It has been listed as a Remarkable Garden since 2015.

The children's playground was specially designed by Launay workshops to connect with Reims Cathedral's master builders, featuring elements that reference the cathedral's construction.
