The Brugg Salt House is an impressive, three-story building dating back to 1732 and is one of the most striking structures in the old town. It was built by the Bernese Salt Directorate on the foundations of the former "Effinger Schlösschen" – a building that previously served as a residence, headquarters, and city center.

Originally designed as a salt warehouse, the Salt House was also part of the city fortifications. Its architecture is both defensive and prestigious: with a tapered façade facing the Aare River, loopholes facing Schulthess-Allee, and a magnificent front facing the courtyard. Particularly noteworthy is that the building's interior has been largely preserved in its original condition.

Today, the Salt House serves as a multicultural event venue and regularly hosts exhibitions, concerts, and markets – a vibrant place steeped in history and atmosphere in the heart of Brugg.
