The Church of São Salvador in Évora has a rich history, linked to the former Convent of the Savior of the World. The convent, which housed Poor Clare nuns, was consecrated in 1610, and the church, a 17th-century Baroque convent, was built later, commissioned by Cardinal Henry. The complex, including the church and an old lookout tower, was integrated into the convent and escaped demolition in the 20th century, when the convent was razed to make way for a post office building.
