This cross-section barn on the Hoevedreef dates from around 1750 and was used as a granary. This type of barn was mainly built in West Flanders, Belgium. Almost all the beams in this barn are still original. The material used for the (re)construction of the barn usually came from the land around the farm. The walls are made of vertically woven willow branches and then smeared with approximately 25,000 kilos of loam, consisting of five thousand litres of horse urine, two hundred litres of lime and twelve bales of straw and loam. In 2008, the barn was rebuilt at this location with the help of many volunteers.

Along Hoevedreef stands a characteristic Brabant cross-section barn, a traditional farm type particularly common in the Meierij district. The barn is recognizable by its ridge placed perpendicular to the road, giving the building the appearance of being wider than it is deep. Inside, the space was divided into three main sections: the living area, the middle section for storage and work, and the rear section for livestock.

The barn on Hoevedreef is a prime example of this regional architectural style, with brick walls, wooden trusses, and a gable roof that was originally often thatched or tiled. This type of barn often dates back to the 19th century and belonged to mixed farms that combined arable farming and livestock farming.

Today, the cross-section barn is a recognizable historical element in the agricultural landscape around Kasteren and Olland.
