Mosel Bend Between Cochem and Treis-Karden

On this section of the bike path is slightly elevated led to the Moselle. This results in wonderful views again.

The asphalt is top-notch and the view of the Moselle and the vineyards is great, but there is also very close contact with a busy road where cars, trucks, buses, cement mixers, etc. rush past at high speeds (100 km/h is the speed limit for cars) and constantly overtake cyclists on the Moselle, some with small children in their cargo bikes. It's only a matter of time before a vehicle loses control and "sweeps" cyclists. For us, this section of the Moselle (Treis-Karden to well beyond Cochem along the B49) was more than unpleasant - the alternative route on the other bank of the Moselle is a beautiful forest path/track, but it is best to use it with slightly wider tires and when the ground is dry.
