Hiking Highlight
In the old town of Cochem are many beautiful half-timbered houses, which are almost all restored. Large parts of the city wall are still in existence and above all rises the imperial castle Cochem in the south. You should use this backdrop and pause for an espresso or a delicious Mosel wine in front of the interesting town hall.

The old town is often well visited ...
The offer of the business is very varied - there should be something for everyone. It is dominated by cafes, wine shops, pubs and restaurants. But from time to time you can also find a shop with a high-quality and extraordinary assortment.

But you should rather early, or visit the narrow streets in the evening. Then it is quieter, and you can much better admire the beauty of the city center. In the evening a nice dry Riesling ... Perfect!
By day, it's just too crowded ...
The hourly carillon on the marketplace is also highly recommended.

Very nice and really worth seeing old town. On summer weekends you can hardly see them because of all the people. And the traffic squeezes through the Mosel valley.
In winter and within the week it is relatively quiet ...

Another eye-catcher is the town hall, built in Baroque style in 1739 on the cozy market square, the "parlor" with the Martinsbrunnen and the old half-timbered gabled houses covered with Moselle slate in the narrow streets of the old town.

Certainly one of the most famous places in Cochem. The wonderfully restored and very well cared for half-timbered houses around the square invite you to linger. The Martinsbrunnen only underlines the homely feeling when you linger there. It is most beautiful there in the evening hours, when it is quiet. The place is very crowded during the day.

The quaint streets in Cochem have to be discovered. Especially in the upper town, they are so narrow that you can easily overlook them.

Always worth a visit; a good starting point to explore Cochem.
The best thing is to park outside and walk a bit in.

The old town of Cochem with its numerous half-timbered houses and the many well-preserved remains of the city wall with its defense towers offer many grandiose sights. Unfortunately, Cochem is overrun by too many tourists.
