Please check local regulations for: Cairngorms National Park
Deep in the Cairngorm National Park, hikes up Morrone place you in gorgeous surroundings without much effort at all. This hill rises above the pretty village of Braemar, which offers both car parking and has a bus service from Aberdeen. Campsites, hotels and a youth hostel make Braemar an ideal base for exploring the hiking trails up Morrone as well as the exquisite mountains and woodlands in the region.
The trails are clear and you can begin from the village itself. Morrone rises abruptly from the glens that flow around it and, as a result, the hike is steep. At the top, you’ll find a flat, gravel summit and a radio mast. It might not exactly be unspoilt, but the views on a clear day make up for the incursion. All around you, the Cairngorms reach for the sky. Ben Avon, Lochanager and Ben Macdui are all visible in good weather.
Around the northern base of Morrone is Morrone Birkwood. A sight of Special Scientific Interest, this woodland is home to rare juniper, birches and other flora.

The hike is not very exhausting and you will have fantastic views over the Cairngorm from the Corbett. If you do the hike in the late afternoon you may spot some stags on your way back to Breamer.

Plenty of parking at the duck pond and allows a slightly higher start than from Braemar town centre.

Seriously ugly concrete building at the top. Nicer to have a picnic a bit down the hill at the cairns.
