The village of Novgorodskoye on the Akulinka River is located 13 miles from the city of Vladimir. The name of the village Novgorodskoye gives reason to believe that the foundation of this village is connected with the history of Novgorod the Great. In 1488, Grand Duke Ivan Vasilyevich III evicted up to 8,000 families from Novgorod and gave them land within the boundaries of the current Vladimir province. Perhaps the village of Novgorodskoye was formed from Novgorod evicted people. At the beginning of the 16th century, it is mentioned among the palace villages granted by Grand Duke Vasily Ivanovich to the clergy of the Cathedral of St. Demetrius. Grand Duke Ivan Vasilyevich granted Novgorodskoye to the Vladimir Nativity Monastery, in whose possession it remained until the abolition of monastic estates. The existing stone church with the same bell tower was built in 1831 with funds from parishioners.
