The current stone building of the temple was built in 1796.

In 2016, a book of philosophical and religious poems by the famous poet and songwriter Leonid Derbenev was published in Moscow. The proceeds from the sale of the book went to the restoration of the Ilyinsky Church in the homeland of Derbenev's ancestors in the village of Ulovo in the Suzdal district of the Vladimir region. It is known that Derbenev's ancestors on his father's side lived in the village of Ulovo for several centuries. The poet's grandfather and grandmother were married in the Ulovo Church of the Prophet Elijah. His father was born in Ulovo at the beginning of the 20th century, and he left for Moscow in the late 1920s. Leonid Derbenev himself was born in the capital, but during the Great Patriotic War he lived in Ulovo for some time with his grandparents. The poet returned to the homeland of his ancestors again towards the end of his life in the 1990s. He decided to visit Ulovo when he came to Vladimir for work.

Since 2012, at the beginning of August, a folk festival called “Derbenevskie Posidelki v Ulovo” has been held near the Ilyinsky Church. The proceeds from the festival go to the restoration and improvement of the local church. Today, the Ilyinsky Church in the village of Ulovo has been restored and pleases every tourist and pilgrim with its elegant yellow-white architecture and green roof. The temple can be seen for many kilometers across the vast expanses of Suzdal Opolye.
