Nicholas of Cusa [kuːs], also Nicolaus von Cues, Latinized Nicolaus Cusanus or Nicolaus de Cusa (* 1401 in Kues on the Moselle, now Bernkastel-Kues; † August 11, 1464 in Todi, Umbria), was a German philosopher, theologian, cardinal, mathematician, and physicist. He was famous during his lifetime, universally educated, and one of the first German humanists in the transitional period between the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. He was given the nickname Doctor Christianus.

The birthplace of Nicholas of Cusa is located in Bernkastel-Kues at Nikolausufer 49. The famous theologian, philosopher and mathematician was born here in 1401. The current building was built in 1570 in the Renaissance style on the old foundations. It houses a museum that documents his life and work.
