Hiking
is based on an idea by Carl Friedrich von Jena. Following his instructions, the gorge, now wooded with enormous beech trees, through which the Cöthen stream meanders towards Falkenberg, was transformed into a landscape park in the 1820s.
Remnants of the park, consisting of an old waterwheel and a waterfall, can be found in the source area of the picturesque stream.
A fantastic area... highly recommended.
