It is only a small source that is somehow quite unspectacular. If you think about what starts here at the source of the Ruhr, but just this unspectacular is the real highlight! But the eventful history of the Ruhr area would not exist without this place. Apart from that starts (or ends) here the Ruhrtalradweg. Done;)

A must for the tour start along the Ruhr! At certain times, however, quite overcrowded.

It's just the beginning - totally unimpressive, but if you know how the Ruhr develops and how beautiful it is, then it's pretty impressive :-)

We were there in April after the Easter days, then it is not so crowded and on the bike paths no rush hour

Small and unimpressive, but it will be something big.

It's just always a nice tour start at a river source and here starts the Ruhrtal bike path so well. The source itself does not really give much. You can see a small trickle and the small stone monument, but if you drive along the Ruhr, you will really become aware of what will become of this little trickle.

3.5 km north of Winterberg the Ruhr rises at about 670 m altitude. From Winterberg you can reach it by bike over roads and forest roads. Here is the beginning of the 240 km long Ruhrtalradweg.

Who drives the Ruhrtalradweg, should start at the source, although here only a small trickle and the wall with the blackboard can be seen. Ultimately, the river grows noticeably from here. Not to forget that he gives his name to a large industrial region.
If you drive early in the year, you should make sure that the bike path is snow-free and ice-free and, if necessary, adjust to a bit of mud.
The way to the source, as well as the Ruhrtalradweg itself are here very well signposted.
The journey by bike is easily possible by train. A free car park for arrivals by car is right at the train station.

The Ruhrquelle is the start of the Ruhrtalradweg. But who needs a special challenge, sets the Ruhr source as a goal. So the Ruhrtalradweg the other way around

When you're on top - it's just downhill along the Ruhr :)
