Information:
The bronze monument was created by sculptor Jürgen Raue and unveiled on May 20, 1989, the 500th anniversary of Müntzer's birth.
Müntzer's time in Zwickau falls within the early years of the Reformation. At the end of April 1521, he was forced to leave Zwickau after recognizing and denouncing significant limitations of the Lutheran Reformation.
