Stuttgarts Zahnradbahn is one of the last four of its kind in Germany - next to the Drachenfels, the Zugspitz and the Wendelsteinbahn. It has been in operation since 1884 and was built by two entrepreneurs who with their help transported not only workers but also goods and building materials. The electric railcars of the meanwhile third generation were completely refurbished in 2001 and currently drive the 2.2 km to Degerloch high. They overcome 210 meters and also like to take bicycles on the bicycle. Since the Woodpecker Trail opened in October 2015, many downhill bikers use the Zacke to get their bikes back to the start.
