    Ignacy Mościcki (1867–1946) – Polish chemist, inventor and politician, President of the Republic of Poland in the years 1926–1939. He was a professor at the Lviv and Warsaw Polytechnics, creator of a method for obtaining nitric acid from air and author of over 40 patents. He initiated the construction of a chemical plant in Mościce. After the USSR's aggression against Poland in 1939, he was interned in Romania and then went to Switzerland, where he died.
