Following the death of Carlos Edmundo de Ory, the Municipal Cultural Foundation and the Carlos Edmundo de Ory Foundation promoted the erection of his statue and planned its inauguration on the poet's birthday, April 27, 2011.
From the outset, the choice fell on the Glorieta Carlos Edmundo de Ory, in front of the author's birthplace on the Alameda de la Apodaca, which has become a true "promenade of illustrious figures" over these two centuries, not only because of the bicentenary of the Cortes, but also because of the liberators of Cuba and the Philippines, important local figures, and, of course, César Vallejo and Rubén Darío, two of his "most beloved" writers.

The Carlos Edmundo de Ory Roundabout is located on the Alameda Apodaca and Marqués de Comillas avenues, one of Cádiz's most iconic promenades, opposite the birthplace of the Cádiz-born poet (Cádiz, 1923 – France, 2010). It is a landscaped space with views of the bay, surrounded by centuries-old ficus trees and fountains decorated with Sevillian ceramics, ideal for strolling and enjoying the maritime landscape.
