The Passat, one of the famous Flying P-Liners, found its final anchorage here.

Unfortunately, only four of these beautiful sailing ships remain today: the "Passat," the "Peking," the "Pommern," and the "Padua." The latter is the only remaining seaworthy tall ship and now sails as a training ship under a different name.
The Passat, along with its sister ship Pamir, was the last German tall ship to carry cargo under sail.
After the Pamir sank in Hurricane Carrie, the era of German tall ships was over. When the Passat suffered a nearly similar fate a short time later, the sailings were discontinued and she was transferred to her current berth.

The fact that three-quarters of the Laeisz shipping company's sailors' names begin with a "P" goes back to the son of the company's founder, who named the first ship after his wife, whom he affectionately called "Poodle" because of her hairstyle.
