One of the city's most exciting street art hotspots is located on the Danube Cycle Path near Spittelauer Lände. A veritable open-air gallery has been created along the Danube Canal, where legal spray-painting surfaces from the Wiener Wand project allow for both spontaneous graffiti and elaborate murals. Particularly striking are large-format works by international artists such as Nychos, Case Maclaim, ROA, and Golif, which lend a distinctive character to the striking Stadtbahn arches and the Zaha Hadid House. Some works are even protected as permanent installations, such as murals with animal motifs or large-scale abstract compositions. The surrounding area is vibrant and constantly changing – partly through new sprays and tags, and partly through organized art projects such as the One Year Festival, which redesigned entire spaces. Visitors can best discover the street art from the cycle path along the Danube Canal or on a special street art cruise on the MS Blue Danube, which provides background information and stories behind the works of art. This makes Spittelauer Lände a place where urban lifestyle, cycling along the water and modern art come together directly in public space.
