Fragment from our hiking holiday Hochsauerland.
    Day 5:
Hunted over the Kleine & Grote Heidkopf to Jagdhaus.
How gray and gray can a Monday start?
The sun doesn't give us a glance and yet, no mountain is too high, even if it doesn't stay dry, we're going for it.
Armed with our photoshooter over the shoulder, we head into the hunting grounds - Fleckenberg.
Park on the road to Latrop and we'll give it a lap.
Rain or shine, rain clothes on, we are looking forward to it.
Calm has returned after the weekend.
Fortunately, lumberjacks have an extra day off (15 August Maria Ascension).
The chainsaws won't be started again until tomorrow. The Typesetter has not been idle here and is seriously affecting the Heidkopf. In the foreseeable future, the mountain will be bare.
The desolate plains are now ours alone. Yet every now and then deer stand shyly, posing is not one of them. They just give us a '2 second look' and then they shy away.
In the deciduous passages, squirrels play 'tack on the high'.
It is wonderful to be here alone and to hear and feel the wind in our faces.
The higher, the more barren the Heidkopf becomes.
According to Komoot, nobody has gone before us at the top of the Heidkopf, 666 meters above sea level.
A short visit is captivating and tired for a long time. Without stumbling or falling, we were able to complete the way of the cross in 14 stations.
    (Worth a highlight though).
Our discovery continues to the fashionable Jagdhaus. The Beau monde 2.0 apparently left hastily due to the arrival of the drizzly weather. They want to shine here on 'their mountain top and with the pinnacle of life'. But since the sun is the great absentee, 'See and be seen' is only on Sundays.
Chased by the pouring rain we return over the Grote Heidkopf. We can no longer enjoy beautiful views. At times we walk with our heads in the (rain) clouds.
The raindrops are strumming on our heads, for the rest it is as quiet as a mouse.
Even the voles remain in their burrows with this deluge.
Back in the valley, gray and gray and drop by drop, back to square one.
Tired but satisfied, our rain walk has been good.
