Liebenstein Castle is located on a mountain spur south of Neckarwestheim. The core of the complex is a reconstructed keep with the remains of a Romanesque residential building and visible traces of a large Gothic building attached to the defensive tower. The castle houses a hotel with a restaurant and a castle tavern. The castle can be visited free of charge, and the castle chapel is also open to the public.

The heart of the complex is the Kernburg, the Lower Castle, with the rebuilt keep around 1230 and remains of a Romanesque residential building as well as visible at the defensive tower traces of a large Gothic building attached to it. The keep has a nearly square base, each about eight meters in length and a height of almost 30 meters. It is made of shell limestone blocks and has on the south side remains of a Aborterkers. The core castle had to the south once about 2.40 meters strong shield wall, whose approach is still recognizable at the keep, and was moved around 1300 by a preserved own wall ring, which forms a kennel in the west and has a Ecktourelle to the east. A small stone house was added to this wall in the east during the Gothic period. (c) Wikipedia 2018
