A special feature of Ringenberg Castle is the replica of the "Ringenberg sundial": It shows the time on 13 surfaces, i.e. always on several surfaces illuminated by the sun at the same time. It shows the Ringenberg local time, which differs by 34 minutes from Central European Time. The original clock dates from the 17th century and can be viewed in the castle. For math fans: The geometric shape of the sundial is a cuboctahedron. More information: medienwerkstatt-online.de/lws_wissen/vorlagen/showcard.php?id=29002

The replica corresponds in every detail to the multi-surface sundial from the 17th century.
The actual clock is a cuboctahedron with 6 squares and 8 equilateral triangles.
13 areas are provided with dials and shadow projectors.
This form, in which all visible surfaces can display the time, is unique in Germany.
