The Jenny Marx House at Jenny-Marx-Straße 20 in Salzwedel commemorates Jenny von Westphalen, who was born there in 1814 and later became the wife of Karl Marx. The baroque city palace, where she spent her early years, was built in 1737 and is an important architectural monument to the city's history. Today, the building houses a music school, while a small permanent exhibition on the ground floor commemorates the life and work of Jenny Marx. The focus is on her role as a political advisor, secretary, and close confidante of Karl Marx.
