The former Royal Prussian Post Office in Salzwedel is located at Große-Sankt-Ilsen-Straße 22 and was built in the first half of the 18th century. It is a two-story, gabled, half-timbered building with a striking dormer window. The upper floor housed a stately ballroom, reflecting the building's importance as a major transportation hub in the Altmark region. For decades, the post office served as a central station for passenger and postal traffic. Today, the building is a listed building and is considered an important example of Baroque half-timbered architecture and a testament to the urban infrastructure development of this period.
