The church is situated picturesquely high above the Danube valley and offers from its portal a beautiful view over the river. The construction of the church goes back to a hostile robbery around 1388. At that time the neighboring castle Donaustauf was besieged and three soldiers stole the hosts from the castle chapel and hid them in the forest. Miraculously, the hosts were rediscovered, and in gratitude, this church was built here.
