There are several legends about what this chapel pillar is dedicated to. Local legend says that it was built by a gentleman for his coachman, who drowned in the lake, saving the gentleman's life when the horses got scared and ran into the lake with the carriage. However, most likely the chapel pillar is dedicated to Henrik Römer (1803–1828), the eldest son of Mykolas Juozapas Römer and Rachelė de Raes, who drowned in Lake Daugirdiškės on July 4, 1828. It is also said that the chapel pillar was built in 1830–40 at the expense of the landowner Römer in memory of the estate administrator who drowned in the lake.
