In 1927 the construction of the water tower in Bad Doberan began on the 43 meter high Temple Hill on the western outskirts of the city. A 22.22 meter high tower made of solid brick was created.

It was formerly used for the drinking water supply of the city of Bad Doberan. After such a use was no longer necessary, the tower was used as a viewing platform and as a venue for concerts and exhibitions, such as "Aqua Nostra".

In 2004 the tower was renovated and converted for residential purposes. It is under monument protection.

The converted monument has been used as a holiday home since 2012.
