The location describes the imposing Nandai-mon temple gate, a wooden gate with a two-story roof dating from 1203. Two protective deities, the Ni-o, are located on the left and right sides of the gate. The gate is six pillars long and three pillars deep, and has a total height of an impressive 25.46 meters. The two protective deities were crafted and erected in just 69 days. The deer here enjoy the many biscuit donations, which can be purchased in front of the gate for 200 yen.
