Fish Ladder and Würdenhain Weir

The end of 2018 completed Wehr Würdenhain finally connects again the Elsterradweg. For a long time he was interrupted at this point, because the old weir was no longer safe. The crossing is well developed, so it is easy to drive over it. It would be nice if a small rest area with seating at this point would be created.

The old weir was built in 1974 as part of the expansion of the Röder Canal (Große Röder) as a cultural dam and was in need of renovation. It was dismantled and a new weir with a fish ladder and a bicycle and pedestrian bridge was built about 20 m downstream at the mouth of the Black Elster.
