The building was built in 1603 and 1605 by the Grand Duke of Tuscany Ferdinando I de'Medici. At that time, the wool and silk market, the money changers' stalls and the grain market were located here. 1865 was the date since the State Archives of Pisa were located here. There was a hotel here from 1865 and restorations took place from 2002.
