The Heimolen is a post mill from 1662, located on the Windmolenstraat in Gijmel/Langdorp, Aarschot and is owned by Natuurpunt. It is one of the last 130 wooden windmills that Flanders still has. What makes it special is that it has always been in the same place since its foundation and that it has never been destroyed by fire or war. The current structure of the Heimolen is almost completely original. The fact that the mill was never thoroughly renovated is not only deduced from inscriptions in the mill, but also from various historical writings. Moreover, the mill itself betrays its origins: it is one of the very few windmills with a straight chapel roof - after 1700, curved chapel roofs were in vogue everywhere.

The mill is freely accessible:
All year round, every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 10am to 1pm.
The mill is then open, but not in operation.
During these hours, the visit and a tour of the Heimolen are free.
For a tour outside opening hours, you can make an appointment with one of the volunteers. A fee of €2 per person is requested for this, with a minimum of €50.
