The Sorli manor dates back to the 12th century; it was owned by the Visconti family of Milan and then by the Lunati family.
Few traces remain today, including a watchtower and the surrounding wall.

Sorli (Surli in Novese dialect) is a hamlet of Borghetto di Borbera, in the province of Alessandria. The oldest documents preserved in the parish of Sorli are from 1197. The castle must also have been from the 12th century. The name of the hamlet derives from the Latin Surlae, probably in turn of Ligurian origin. Sorli, like the municipality of Borghetto di Borbera, was governed by the Lonati family until the 18th century.
