Pogerola, perched on Mount Falconcello, is a hamlet of Amalfi with a curious name: it seems to derive from pigella, a terracotta plate used to bake bread.
Walking through its streets you will find traces of history, such as the church of Santa Marina Vergine, the remains of the Castrum Pigellulae with two surviving towers, and the church of San Michele Arcangelo, which silently watches over the village.
