The Altenberg, Menrath, Scheuren, and Bülsberg entrances are open 24/7, except for the rutting season (October to November) when they are closed all day. The revolving gate next to the Menrath fence crossing is muddy, rusted, and unusable.

Beware of dead ends: All other gates that you suspect or can see on maps are permanently closed! You can't climb over them either because of the barbed wire.

The path along the fence leading toward Strauweiler has fallen into disuse in the forest, crisscrossed by 10-15 spruce trees. Only for squirrels!
