The Fünfmühlental valley is very idyllically situated. The Mühlbach stream originates between Babstadt and Rappenau. The first mill in the actual Sechsmühlental valley stood in what is now the spa park. Today, the five remaining mills are located in the section between Zimmerhof and Neckarmühlbach. Following the stream, first the Kugelmühle (ball mill) directly below the golf course, then the Bartsmühle (barts mill), then the game reserve, then the Sommersmühle (summer mill), then the forest section, then the Siegelsbacher Mühle (also called Grundmühle or Schnepfenhardter Mühle), and at the entrance to Neckarmühlbach, the Meisackmühle (meaning "mean mill"), which was in operation the longest, until 1980, and was recently renovated and restored to its original condition.
The mills have since been beautifully renovated, with the exception of the Kugelmühle (ball mill), which is for sale, and the Bartsmühle (barts mill), which is privately owned. Particular attention was paid to the Sommersmühle (summer mill), which burned down in 1995 and was completely destroyed down to its foundations. It was then rebuilt true to its original condition.
The names mostly come from the millers who managed the mills over time, an exception is the Kugelmühle, which is named after the associated Kugelwiese and the Schnepfenhardter Mühle (Sigelsbacher Mühle or Grundmühle) which is named after the Schnepfengrund, a field in which it is located and each of the three commonly used names refers to the location (Siegelsbach, Schnepfenhardt and Grund).
