In Cavergno, the Maggia Valley ends and splits into two side valleys. One is the Val Lavizzara, the other the Val Bavona. While both are very scenic, you'll travel much further in the Val Lavizzara. You'll initially ride at a relatively moderate pace through small villages until you reach Peccia. There, a steep climb begins that leads to the last two villages in the valley, Mogno and Fusio. Once again zigzagging, you reach the dam of Lake Sambuco. Along its shores, you climb into increasingly alpine surroundings, finally reaching Lake Narèt at over 2,300 meters. Wow!
