    Memorial to the Hülchrath architect and urban planner Josef Stübben (1845-1936).

    Stübben had a significant influence on the urban development of Cologne in the late 19th century. Following the demolition of the eight-kilometer-long medieval city wall, the New Town was built according to his plans, and buildings such as the Hahnentorburg, Eigelsteintorburg, and Bayenturm were restored. He designed Cologne's magnificent Ring Boulevard and proposed naming it after German ruling families. His own house, at Hohenzollernring 56, was one of the first, but also one of the narrowest, to be built here. In 1880, Stübben and Karl Henrici developed a proposal for the construction of the Rheinauhafen harbor.
