Hiking

Blankenheim Castle was founded by the Lords of Blankenheim and was first mentioned in 1273 (Herzog 1989, p. 158). It was built as a section castle from quarry stone and was partially protected by a ditch and by the steep slope. It consists of a main castle and a lower castle. A rose garden followed. The hall forms the oldest part of the castle and is still well preserved today.
