Take your time and marvel at the historic city center. It fascinates with its beautiful half-timbered houses and with the Ahr spring, which is located in the middle of the village.

Very nice little place with a few options for walks and small hikes and a lot of half-timbered flair - also quite quiet during the week.

Pretty it is here around the Ahrquelle. Half-timbered houses and narrow staircases and alleyways dominate the picture.

Blankenheim Castle was founded by the Lords of Blankenheim and was first mentioned in 1273 (Herzog 1989, p. 158). It was built as a section castle from quarry stone and was partially protected by a ditch and by the steep slope. It consists of a main castle and a lower castle. A rose garden followed. The hall forms the oldest part of the castle and is still well preserved today.

    Geschichte

The historic center of Blankenheim is definitely worth a visit. The cobbled paths and small squares as well as the beautiful old half-timbered houses are waiting to be discovered by you as a photo motif. Of course, the first thing to be mentioned here is the Ahr spring, which is known far beyond Blankenheim. Furthermore, some cozy restaurants and cafes invite you to stop and linger.
If you arrive by private car, you should note that it is almost impossible to find a suitable parking space in the town center. Instead, you can use the public parking lot directly at the Schwanenweiher.

Cozy old village that has kept its character. Definitely worth a visit. Just stroll from the source of the Ahr through the alleys and discover something beautiful on every corner.

The "old town" of Blankenheim is mostly well preserved or restored and (apart from a few "modern architectural mistakes") worth seeing. Coming on the Way of St. James from Cologne (or in the variant from Bonn), the pilgrim to Bad Münstereifel - where both routes unite - now reaches this place as a stage destination on the further path through the Eifel in the direction of Trier.

The small old town of Blankenheim is known for the fact that the "Ahr enthusiasts" meet at the outlet of the Ahrquelle in the evening.
