It is a strange feeling to cycle here on the narrow road. On the right handrail and on the left there is a gap between the carriageway and the bike / sidewalk. Who falls down here, that's gone ...

The Uerdinger Rheinbrücke spans between the Krefeld district of Uerdingen and the Duisburg district of Mündelheim as Zügelgurtbrücke the Rhine. The building is 860 meters long and has two lanes and two sidewalks. Wikipedia

The Ürdinger bridge, the only bridge connection to Krefeld in the south of Duisburg. The next would be relatively far north (railway bridge on Rheinpark Duisburg Rhein KM 774 -775 or the bridge of solidarity) to the south the next crossing is the ferry in Dusseldorf Kaiserwerth at about 755 or the airport A44 about at KM 753.

Beautiful suspension bridge! The info's from Wikipedia:
The Uerdinger Rheinbrücke spans between the Krefeld district of Uerdingen and the Duisburg district of Mündelheim as Zügelgurtbrücke the Rhine. The building is 860 meters long and has two lanes and two sidewalks. It is one of the last "fake" suspension bridges across the Rhine. The Uerdinger Rheinbrücke is part of the federal highway 288. The building is one of the most beautiful bridges in the Rhine and is listed since 1987 because of the "architectural conception of the desired harmony between nature and technology" under monument protection.

The Krefeld Rhine bridge, more purpose than beautiful, trails very narrow

Beautiful view of the Rhine meadows and the Rhine. The bike path is however quite narrow and bounded on both sides by metal.

Does not look much different than the Chempark in Dormagen

In the past, you could admire the setting sun behind the BAYER cross. It is not romantic, but you have a good overview of the underlying Rhine Passage. If you can carry your bike, take the shortcut over the stairs to get to the bridge. All others take a "detour" through Uerdingen to reach the bridge.

Occasionally, one or the other private event takes place on the Duisburg side directly below the bridge. In the past you could watch a fantastic sunset behind the BAYER cross. The BAYER.Kreuz no longer exists, but the view of the Uerdinger Ufer is also very nice.
