Pearl of the Ammerland
The Zwischenahner Meer is also known as the "Pearl of the Ammerland" – and rightly so. Nestled in a beautiful natural landscape, Lower Saxony's third-largest inland lake is a popular destination for visitors from near and far. Its 550 hectares of surface area are also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. The lake is up to 5.5 meters deep; however, there is usually a meter-thick layer of sludge underneath.
