It recalls the place where the deportees from the Royallieu camp embarked on the last train to Buchenwald on August 17, 1944. Having left the next day in the summer heat, the 1,250 deportees arrived at the German camp on August 21, 1944 for a long internment.
This stele presents an avenue of honor, initiated by the deportees Jacques Vigny, Alfred Robert and Max Brézillon.
