Ancient times, when God and the devil divided the earth among themselves, it was agreed between them that the devil should own all the land which he could rebuild in a night until the first cockcrow with a wall. That night, when the devil began building, an old woman was on her way to sell a cock in the market. In the dark, she stumbled, and the cock was startled and began to crow. The devil heard this, and thought that his time had already passed, and with rage he broke the devil's wall again. The remains have remained until today.

Probably the most impressive part of the Teufelsmauer. Especially at sunrise you can experience great color games

Be sure to visit .... The Devil's Wall is a bizarre sandstone formation that was created 85 million years ago. From the car park, a comfortable sandy path with steps leads to an observation deck, from which you have a wonderful view of the Harz foothills and Quedlinburg. On the way you pass the Bode and a lovingly maintained public garden. The walk can be extended to a circular path or you can continue on the Teufelsmauersteig.

Mega beautiful place, great photo opportunities in every season. The adjacent car park is very busy, especially on weekends and on public holidays.

The Lange Wand, the Königsstein, the west tower. This stone natural monument is a must for every visitor of the Harz

Far away from the sometimes overcrowded formations in the area of the Königstein at Weddersleben, here offers a quiet spot that is ideal for a little break. Located on a hill, offers a wide view to Brocken. One sees the Bodetal on one side and has a fantastic view of the Königstein on the other!

Each of the sections of the wall has its charm, especially the rest area with the panoramic view of Weddersleben is awesome

A section of the Teuelsmauer, which receives far fewer visitors than the part at Weddersleben. The wall is less spectacular here, but offers very nice views and much more peace.

A wild romantic sight. Easy to reach by bus or car, not too crowded.

Really nice to walk, and something different than in the forest

Probably the most striking part of the Teufelsmauer is located south of Weddersleben and extends to Warnstedt. There, two kilometers long, the king stone, the center stones and the pebble stones line up.

The Königstein is also popularly called the Neinstedter Teufelsmauer, one of the most striking rock formations of the Teufelsmauer

These are parts of the Teufelsmauer at Weddersleben / Thale. From the middle stones you have a good view of Quedlinburg.

"In the vicinity of Weddersleben, a district of Thale, in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt, part of the Devil's Wall stretches. The Königsstein, which are Mittel- and Papensteine, are located 2 km north of Neinstedt and south of Weddersleben. Many of the Harz legends and myths were developed in the past to explain the genesis and peculiarities of the Teufelsmauer. The part of the Teufelsmauer around Weddersleben stands since 1935 under nature protection and belongs thus to the oldest nature protection areas of Germany. In 2006, the northern edge of the Harz including the Teufelsmauer was added to the list of National Geotopes "👹
