This is the second named bridge on the Promenade des Artistes.
The Promenade des Artistes is a beautiful walk that passes, among other places, the Ruisseau de la Picherotte, a valley with fast-flowing water that has inspired numerous artists. Since 2014, the seven bridges spanning the water have been named after local artists.

Frans Van Genesen was of Dutch descent and studied in The Hague, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, and in Paris.
He was seen painting seascapes in Blankenberge, where he had a shop and exhibited his work.

He also enjoyed spending part of the year near Spa, where he painted springs, streams, and fens with great talent.

We can therefore speak of a traveler, a man with a vision of openness to the world, a Belgian and European avant-garde artist like many of his fellow painters of the time. The two wars he experienced may have slowed him down.
