Autobahnsee Augsburg

The Autobahnsee is an ideal bathing paradise for bathers. Also suitable for families with children as there are 2 large playgrounds. An ideal area for campers as the campsite is right on the lake. Unfortunately it is a bit too loud from the highway.

The motorway was dredged in the late 1930s to win gravel for highway construction. Today it is a popular recreational area in front of the gates of Augsburg. The bathing lake is surrounded by lawns with old trees; a beautiful path leads with about 2.1 km in length around the lake. It also offers a barbecue area, toilet facilities, a kiosk with beer garden, a restaurant, a water watch station and three large, free parking lots.For the little ones there is a large children's play area on the eastern shore for romping and for the adults a beach volleyball court. The lake is up to 4 m deep and about 17 ha in size. The water quality is constantly monitored by the health department.The lake is located directly at the motorway exit of the A8, the ADAC practice course is right next door. But he is also very easy to reach by bike.In winter, he is - in addition to the Kuhsee - also very popular for ice skating.
