The shapes represent the "flax chapels".
Flax was retted along these banks of the Leie. After retting, the wet flax was placed in small drying huts on the meadows. The name "flax chapels" comes from the resemblance to the towers of the pilgrimage sites, chapels, which were common in the Flemish countryside.
In the evening you can see blue lights, referring to the beautiful blue flowers of the flowering flax.
