The Langenberg transmitter is a Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) broadcasting facility located in Langenberg, a district of Velbert. In addition to the basic network transmitter on Band IV/V for digital television in the DVB-T2 HD standard, it houses additional transmitters for the broadcast of public and private radio broadcasts using analog (FM on ultrashort wave/Band II) and digital (DAB+ on Band III) technology. The Langenberg site houses the WDR's Central Transmitter Network Monitoring (ZSÜ), which controls large parts of WDR's broadcasting operations.

The two transmission masts, approximately 650 meters apart, are visible from afar. The larger one, with a height of 301 meters, is also a popular tourist destination due to its location on the Hordtberg mountain at 244.4 meters above sea level.[1] The second transmission mast, 170 meters high, is located southeast of it near the village of Rommel.

Due to the high population density surrounding this facility, located centrally in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Langenberg transmitter has one of the highest technical ranges of all German stations, meaning it can be heard by the largest number of people. The Langenberg site is one of the oldest in the history of radio broadcasting in Germany. The first medium-wave transmitter was built in 1926 and was the most powerful in Europe at the time. With the television transmitter of the then Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR), which went into operation in September 1952, Langenberg is also one of the oldest transmitter sites in German television history.
