Tips
The cathedral square is a wonderful place in the middle of Taomina to linger and enjoy the gigantic views. In the square in front of the cathedral there is a baroque fountain built in 1635 with two water basins one above the other. The Centauressa, a figure similar to the Greek centaurs, sits enthroned above it. The bull's body symbolizes the mountain Monte Tauro, the woman's body with sceptre and globe the city of Tauromenion. The Centauressa, the official symbol of the city, is also depicted in the city's coat of arms.
