The "Herbert" is a steam tug built in 1905. With its well-preserved original engine, it is a piece of technical history. Since 1992, the "Herbert" has been transporting tourists on the Mjörn from the end of May to mid-September. It has space for a maximum of 25 passengers. The tug is 15.25 meters long and equipped with a 45 hp engine, and was manufactured by Eriksberg's Mechanical Workshop in Gothenburg for Strands Ångsåg in Nössemark in the northwest of Dalsland. At the beginning of the last century, this part of the country had almost no roads, but the wood from the forests, which was sought after as a raw material, could be easily transported by water. Over the years, the "Herbert" took on the task of hauling wood to the sawmills for various companies and transporting the products from there onto barges. However, the increasingly well-developed road network gradually made them superfluous. In 1985, the tug ended up at the steamship company in Alingsås, where it was restored in around 12,000 hours of work. In 1991, the "Herbert" made its first voyage on the Mjörn in its new splendor.
