The German clock near the Courthouse building was not initially intended for Lucea, the capital of the parish of Hanover, but instead to be sent to the island of St. Lucia in the Eastern Caribbean.
The captain of the ship carrying the clock confused the 2 locations and brought it to Lucea Jamaica instead.
The clock, shaped like a German Royal Guard helmet, was installed in 1817 and is today Lucea’s notable landmark. It is still fully functional today.
