Hiking
Most visitors to the town know the west side with the harbor, church and beach.
But you can also take a walk on the east side.
A staircase leads to an elevated promenade along the seafront.
This is called the Caminho do Calhau.
The path offers beautiful views of the harbor, boats, town, cliffs and hills in the background. We really enjoyed this little detour.
A few steps up to the promenade and then it is fairly flat and easy to manage.
There are beautiful, historic buildings along the Camino do Calhau.
