The whole area runs from Bojendorf on Westermarkelsdorf along the north coast to Puttgarden. The landscape is characterized by wet meadows, reed belts various Haffseen and the Markelsdorfer Huk.
Since the end of 2016, the Markelsdorfer Huk has a two-level viewing platform that offers visitors a higher perspective. The predominantly wooden structure is built on steel pillars and equipped with metal steps.
